Welcome to the St. Ignatius High School FAQ section. 1. What programs and courses does St. Ignatius High School offer?
St. Ignatius High School offers a wide range of programs, including Business Studies, General Studies, Science Studies STEM Studies, and the Welding/NDT Program as an elective. We also provide extracurricular programs in Music, Etiquette, Technology, and Speech 101. Furthermore, our uniquely tailored Street Law Belize 101 program offers Legal Literacy.
2. How can I apply to St. Ignatius High School?
To apply, you must complete an application form and provide two letters of recommendation, a passport-size photograph, copies of your birth certificate and social security card or passport, and a transcript if you are a transfer student. Additionally, you must submit a non-refundable application fee of $20.
3. What is the tuition fee structure for St. Ignatius High School?
The tuition fees differ by grade level. For 1st form ($963), 2nd form ($913), 3rd form ($913), and 4th form ($1063), these fees include registration and tuition, among other services.
4. What is the class schedule for the Adult Education Program?
Classes for the Adult Education Program are held in the evenings from Monday to Friday, starting at 5:30 p.m. and concluding at 9:05 p.m. One evening of the week, adult learners go to Cayo CET facilities to take their Votech training. Some Saturday classes may also be scheduled for exam preparation and vocational training at Cayo CET.
5. What are the graduation requirements for St. Ignatius High School?
In order to graduate, students need to meet the following requirements:
- Attain a minimum overall GPA of 2.0
- Attend and complete all final examinations
- Maintain at least 90% attendance in each subject
- Submit all assignments and projects
- Serve 30 hours of community service
- Attend all graduation practices
- Clear any outstanding arrears and graduation fees
6. What support services are available for students?
St. Ignatius High School offers career guidance, college preparation, computer literacy, remedial programs, and a scholarship program. We also have the Street Law Belize 101 Program to help students understand basic legal literacy.
7. What is the attendance policy?
Students are required to attend scheduled classes regularly, with a maximum of three absences allowed per course per semester. Excessive absences may result in withdrawal from the course.
8. What are the rules regarding student conduct?
Students are expected to adhere to the school’s code of conduct, which includes policies on proper attire, use of ID cards, attendance, and behavior. Violations such as cheating, plagiarism, bullying, and possession of prohibited items can result in disciplinary actions, including suspension or dismissal.
