St. Ignatius High School hosted its highly anticipated STEM Program Launch, marking a significant step forward in its commitment to expanding educational opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The event brought together the school community, stakeholders, and partners to celebrate the launch of two new curriculum offerings—Introduction to Architecture and Introduction to Engineering—and promote the One Link Mobile App, a new tool designed to streamline school-related payments for parents and students.

Program Highlight

The launch event, held from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., was filled with inspiring moments showcasing the school’s vision for the future. Representatives from key organizations such as the Association of Professional Engineers of Belize (APEB) and the Association of Professional Architects of Belize (APAB) attended, further emphasizing the collaborative efforts between the school and industry professionals.

One of the key presentations was the Overview of the Architecture Program by Mr. Alrick Flores, Secretary of the Board at APAB, who spoke on behalf of the association. Mr. Flores provided insights into how the program is designed to nurture creativity, critical thinking, and practical skills that will prepare students for careers in architecture. His presentation underscored the school’s mission to offer hands-on experiences that align with the demands of today’s workforce.

While Engineer Mrs. Ramy Chia was not present at the event, her contributions to the engineering program’s curriculum review were acknowledged. Her expertise in shaping the program’s content is essential to equipping students with technical skills and problem-solving abilities, which are critical elements for their future careers in engineering.

Remarks from Partners for Progress

A segment titled Remarks from Partners for Progress featured heartfelt contributions from several notable individuals. Mrs. Jamie Lee Usher, Mr. Jarrus Mitchell, and Ms. Pauline Gilharry-Roberts shared their perspectives on the importance of partnerships in ensuring the success of STEM programs. Each speaker emphasized the value of collaboration and the shared vision of providing students with quality education and opportunities for personal growth.

One Link Mobile App Promotion

Another event highlight was the promotion of the One Link Mobile App. The app is designed to make payments for school fees and donations more accessible and secure for parents and students, further exemplifying the school’s forward-thinking approach to integrating technology into everyday operations.

Mr. Oscar Perez, representing One Link Mobile, spoke about the app’s capabilities and how it will streamline the payment process, making it easier for families to support their children’s education. The app’s launch is another step towards making St. Ignatius High School a leader in adopting technological solutions to enhance school operations.

A Partnership for the Future

The STEM Program Launch was more than just a celebration of new programs; it was a testament to the value of partnerships between educational institutions and the wider community. Principal Jeaneane V.
